Master's Program (Online)
The Great Plains Interactive Distance Education Alliance (IDEA) — a collaboration between eight universities, including Kansas State University — developed an entirely Internet-based Personal Financial Planning master’s program that enables you to pursue the degree at your convenience, without interrupting your personal or professional life. Drawing on the expertise of graduate faculty from the participating universities, the inter-institutional program allows you to earn your master’s degree from any of the eight universities via online coursework.
K-State is proud to be one of the universities working together to offer this distance education master’s degree. While each of the eight universities brings a unique strength to the master’s program, K-State has outstanding CFP® certificant faculty recognized in the financial planning field and an excellent reputation for scholarly achievement. K-State is also the only university in the alliance to offer a bachelor’s degree program in Personal Financial Planning that is registered with the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards Inc.
Upon completion of the curriculum, you will earn your master’s in Family Studies and Human Services with an emphasis in Personal Financial Planning, and be eligible to sit for the CFP® Certification Examination. K-State has a history of success in the exam, with students who sit for the examination having an above-average pass rate. The degree also fulfills the educational requirement for these designations: Registered Financial Consultant, Registered Financial Associate, Certified Retirement Counselor, and Accredited Financial Counselor.
Through K-State and Great Plains IDEA, you can expand your personal financial planning knowledge, earn your master’s degree, and develop competencies that may qualify you for professional certification by CFP Board...all while staying where you are.
